So obviously it’s best to avoid getting a sore throat in the first place if you can help it. If you can do that, then you don’t even need to worry about finding a way to get rid of it!
Of course, this is easier said than done, but here are some tips that may help:
Avoid the Germs – If you know someone is sick, stay away from them. This is also easier said than done, since some people don’t seem to care about spreading germs when they are sick. Do you have a coworker who insists on coming to work when he is sick? Or the guy with no manners who doesn’t cover his mouth when he coughs or sneezes? These types of people make it harder to avoid getting sick, so you should be on the lookout if you suspect someone is sick. You can also help avoid germs by not touching your face (mouth, nose, eyes, ears) as often. A lot of people touch their face a lot without even being aware of it. If you touch a doorknob that has germs on it and then a few minutes later itch your nose with that same hand, you may have just infected yourself. Of course, people may be contagious before they begin showing symptoms, and possibly for a period of time after symptoms go away, as well, so just do your best.
Wash Your Hands – It’s especially important to do this before you eat!
Act Fast – Some people claim that a cold or sore throat can be minimized if you begin treatment as soon as you first notice the symptoms, before the cold has fully taken hold. This hasn’t been proven in any double-blind studies, but it kind of makes intuitive sense, and if you believe it, you should act fast. They hydrogen peroxide in the ear crew believes this is the case. They claim as soon as you feel that tingle in your throat that precedes a cold, you should begin treatment right away.
De-stress Your Life – It’s been shown that stress can weaken the immune system, so relax! Go to the gym, take a walk, get a massage.
